How to install Jenkins in Ubuntu
. But firstly we should know that what Jenkins is?
Jenkins is basically an automation server and continuous integration tool which is mainly used to automate a project. It provides a number of plugins to automate your projects. in simple words you configure your project it can be your selenium web driver, jmeter or any other kind of project we can run by single click. Jenkins gives many type of plugin that provide different type of functionality like git repository use with jenkins, performance plugin use with jmeter, maven use with jenkins, etc. To install Jenkins in Ubuntu follow the steps written below.
Step-1 Firstly to download Jenkins you must have Java JDK in your system by writing the command.
sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jdk
Step-2 Before installing Jenkins you will also need a web server. To install the same write following command in Ubuntu Terminal:
sudo apt-get install apache2
Step-3 Now install Jenkins by writing the following commands in Ubuntu Terminal:
To add Jenkins on Ubuntu use the following command-
wget -q -O - https://pkg.jenkins.io/debian/jenkins-ci.org.key | sudo apt-key add –
sudo sh -c 'echo deb http://pkg.jenkins.io/debian-stable binary/ > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/jenkins.list'
Step-4 Now to update the packages, use the following command-
sudo apt-get update
Finally, to install Jenkins use the following command-
sudo apt-get install Jenkins
Step-5 Now to check if Jenkins is installed properly or not go to web browser write localhost:8080.
Step-6 Now to unlock Jenkins you have to extract initial password. Use the following command to find the admin password –
Step-7 Copy the password and paste it into localhost:8080 text field in the web browser and press Continue.
Step-8 Now select Install Suggested Plugins to install Plugins( it is recommended mostly usable plugin there in suggested if you want to install according to need need choose custom).
Step-9 Now once everything is installed you will be redirected to Create First Admin User Page. Fill all the details and here you can also change the password.
Step-10 Now click on Save and Continue you will be redirected to Jenkins homepage and your Jenkins is successfully installed on Ubuntu
